A special message about Eid Al Fitr from Amr (CLV North Don)

Eid Al Fitr Potluck

Hello Everyone,

As some of you may already know, Muslims are currently celebrating Ramadan. Ramadan is a month in the Islamic calendar where Muslims fast during the day (from dawn until sunset) everyday for the duration of the month. This year, Ramadan started on September 24th, and its last day will be October 23rd.After Ramadan, comes another great event for the Muslim community. This event is called "Eid Al-Fitr" (or "Eid ul-Fitr", or simply "Eid"). This can be translated as "the celebration of breaking the fast". This starts on the first day after Ramadan, and lasts for 3 days. Eid Al-Fitr is a time to come together as a community and to renew friendship and family ties. This is a time for peace for all Muslims in the world. It is a joyous occasion with important religious significance. Happiness is observed at attaining spiritual uplift after a month of fasting. Muslims dress in holiday attire. After attending the special congregational prayer in the morning, worshipers greet and embrace each other in a spirit of peace, love, and brotherhood. Visiting friends and relatives is common.

For more information about Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr, you can refer to the following links:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramadanhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eid_ul-Fitr

To celebrate this event, CLV is organizing *"Eid Al-Fitr Potluck"* on *Thursday October 26th, at 6:00 pm*. You are all invited to this event. Come out, congratulate your Muslim neighbors and get to know about their culture. Note that this is a potluck, so you have to bring some kind of food if you are coming. It can be a dish from your home country, a dessert dish, a drink, salad, anything that you can think of, and it does not have to be big or complicated. However, please consider the following:
1 - This is a CLV event, so do no bring any alcoholic drinks please.
2 - As a consideration to our Muslim community, please do not bring a dish that contains pork or alcohol.
3 - Due to the different dietary needs of our residents, please indicate whether your dish is vegetarian or contains meat (and what kind of meat: beef, chicken, etc.), and whether or not it contains nuts (for allergy concerns).

*Here is the event info again:*
